Will it Cost me a lot of money to start making money online?”
It doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money to start an online business. There are of course the basic things needed such as, a computer, an Internet connection and a website or blog. Your expense would actually be based on what form of business you want to start online.
You don’t even have to own the computer. You could use the computers at a Cyber Café, business or computer center. You would also have access to the Internet while using the Cyber Café.
You will need to consider the cost of for inventory (storage of products) if you intend to sell physical products you have created. But, note that you don’t have to create your own product to sell products online. I will explain more about this later.
You should also take into consideration the cost of acquiring special software (computer program). If you want to for example start an online web-design or company logo design business. Have no fear about having to take out a huge loan to start your online business. Most computers at business centers have the basic software you need.
“Is it really possible for me to start my own business online, even if I’ve never owned or operated my own business offline before?”
Yes, you can run an online business even if you have never been involved in an offline one before. There are many examples of successful online marketers and business owners who have never owned brick and mortar (offline) businesses before.
They made a success of their online businesses through perseverance, hard work and staying focused. These people carried out the necessary research needed, before embarking on their chosen online ventures. You can get all the required information you need online. Just be careful to get correct information. I will show you were to get the information you need later on.
You can find tips, resources, tricks and all sorts of information from people who’ve been there and done it. All you need to do is exploit these resources to gain the power that knowledge brings.
How much money can I really make from an online business?
This depends on several factors. Some of these factors include:
- What business you embark on
- How much time and effort you dedicate to it
- The return of investment on the product you are offering
- E.t.c
All the factors listed above and more will determine how much you make from an online business. There isn’t any fixed amount. Several Internet marketers and online business owners make thousands of dollars online on a daily basis while others make very little or nothing.
The great thing about an online business is that, compared to others who have to commute to their work places everyday, you can work from home or from one single location. You get to avoid having to pay for fuel for your car or bus fares like others do. You can’t really predict how much you will make until you start the business and devote some time to it.
“Would I need a website to start making money online?”
You will need a website or some form of web presence if you want to for example sell or promote your product(s) or service(s) to an online audience. Such a website would serve as your ‘office’ or ‘store’ on the Internet. This is usually a less expensive alternative than the traditional offline store or office.
In addition, websites have become easier to create. There are so many wonderful and “Free” web design softwares you can use online. You don’t have to spend money buying web design programs. One very good and free, web design software I highly recommend is called “NVU”. You can download a free copy at: www.nvu.com
You could also hire someone to build your website for you. The price for such a service depends on how many pages or how many features it would contain. It could also cost more if you want your website optimized for the search engines such as google.com, yahoo.com and msn.com.
Please note that designing a website isn’t the same thing as optimizing it for the Internet(search engines). It takes extra skills and a well experienced web designer to get your website optimized for these search engines. Why is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so important for any website you want to create?
When you own a website, you want people to find it online… right? What is the essence of creating a website no one visits? Simply creating a website won’t bring visitors to it. My advice is that you get a web designer who can optimize your website for the major search engines.
It has to be someone who really understands what advanced SEO means. This would benefit your business in the long run, because it will bring thousands of free visitors to your website through these powerful search engines.
Do you know that it could take the biggest search engine in the world, www.google.com between two months to six months or more to list your website in their system? But a good SEO expert can get your website noticed and indexed by Google.com, Yahoo.com or MSN.com in a week or less!

More visitors = more money and more profit, so please never forget this. It’s worth paying that extra amount of naira to get your website search engine optimized. Don’t let your lack of web designing skills hold you back from starting an online business.
“Do I need any special business licenses to operate an online business?”
For this, you will have to check with the local, state or federal government, to determine what you will need.
A website selling medical products for example would need to have the products registered with NAFDAC before they can advertise it. If you are promoting an international product as an affiliate for a foreign company, then you don’t need to get any local permit.
“I’m not so good with accepting payments online. How do I go about accepting payments from customers?
When selling things online like for example digital products (e-books), you could use third party payment systems. These online third party payment companies would accept payment on your behalf in a totally secure manner.
Examples of such online companies are Paypal, Clickbank, Commission Junction, Click2sell, Google checkout, Plimus e.t.c. I will write more about them later.
Legitimate Online Businesses You Can Start:
You can easily select from several types of online businesses. Carefully consider each of the options I’m going to explain briefly here. Think about the one you feel comfortable with and which suits you best. I’m going to list some of the most popular ones here.
Service Based Businesses:
This is a type of business where you offer some form of service to your prospective clients. These types of businesses include:

· Bookkeeping and accounting business
The fact is that many business owners have a hard time getting certain chores done on their own. What they do is, outsource their projects to other people. These business owners are looking for people with the skills to carry out their projects.

Welcome! After receiving so many questions from Nigerians who want to learn how to make money online, I have decided to explain this growing trend to everyone in simple words everyone can understand. The information you are going to receive here is the truth about what really works and what doesn’t.
I have decided to reveal the truth about what really works to everyone, because I constantly receive request for advice about how to make money the “Legit” way online. I’m also tired of people who feel the only way to make money online is through fraudulent means. You can really make money the right way online. Thousands of people like myself are doing this daily and smiling all the way to the Bank.
I ‘m writing from my experience as someone who has been making money online for several years now. I have learnt a lot through trial and error. I have also read hundreds of e-books from various online experts who constant make money online.

Scams, Spam (unsolicited mails) and fraud seem to synonymous with the word Internet these days.
So many cynics put this way of earning a living and making money online down. They do this just because the Internet is involved. Such people will yell “Scam” or “Fraud” on the rooftops anytime they hear about any kind of online moneymaking opportunity. While there are scams out there in the online business world, there are just as many genuine money making opportunities to discover.
Reading, researching and the eagerness to gain more knowledge will bring you a lot of information and tips, which will help you, spot these scams. Over the years, fraud and scams steadily have grown in all areas of the Internet. This has understandably, made people concerned about doing anything online.
There are lots of legitimate ways to make some good money on the Internet. A lot of people have successfully done so and continue to do so today. So, don’t let these opportunities pass you by, because of lingering fears.
It’s now time for you to take the upper hand and be in control of your decision to make legitimate money online. With this knowledge, nobody will be able to take advantage of you.

Myth 1- “Turn your Computer into a Money making cash machine!”- In fact, there are a lot of statements that start off with this kind of sales pitch all over the Internet.
The truth – Yes, this statement could be true, but you need to be careful about any any sales offer, which starts this way. Your computer is no ATM machine, and money won’t just pour out of it without some action from you. Some work is required to make money with this powerful tool.
Myth 2-“Make Money Fast Overnight!” – This is also a continuation of the myth above. These types of scams would promise you a way of making money while you simply sleep. Yes, they usually say it’s that easy. They make it sound like there its very little work involved to obtaining the amount of money the promise you would make.
The truth- While it’s certainly possible to achieve, it will take hard work and much commitment to be able to make this claim. Most online businesses will take a little time to get up and running. The important thing here is that it will be worth all your effort in the end.
Myth 3- “Start your business totally Free- No money involved!”- They press on the fact that you can get an online business going with absolutely no money in start -up fees or start off expenses.
The truth - The really interesting thing about this type of scam is that they would scream the ‘no money involved’ announcement, but yet they turn around and ask you to pay them some cash for information on how to get a business started for Free. Think about it… isn’t that contradicting their earlier statement? Usually there will be some costs to start up any business. It could be small, but you have to realize that you need to spend money to make money.
Myth 4- “Start Earning a Living by simply Typing at Home”- This particular statement is similar to a lot of others found all over the Internet. They claim that you can start making money from home with your typing. These are usually data entry jobs. They tell you all you need to do, is know how to type. Then you’ll make thousands of dollars online.
The truth- Yes, you can indeed get paid typing or performing data entry from home. You’re better off offering these services to clients yourself and avoid paying the scammers for the information on how to do it. You can find out how to do this from your own research for Free! You only need to know how to find those requiring your services online
The simple truth is that there are many more scam opportunities out there, but these few ones I have pointed out above, will give you some ideas on how these frauds work and who they like to take advantage of.
My advice is that you should always be aware of your options and never be afraid to do a deep research on any opportunity you don’t feel too comfortable with. If the promises seem to much, ask questions and search for reviews by others who have tested such offers.
GETTING STARTED MAKING MONEY ONLINE:
This is strangely enough one of the most difficult steps for many people. The fear of the “getting started” process tends to make most people procrastinate continuously. It prevents them from starting an online business of their own.
What I have realized is that that fear really has to do with not know where to or how to start. This series of information on making money online will help you understand how and where to start. It will help you decide which path to follow.
Another major fear is that many people feel they have to quit their present jobs to devote full time to an Internet business. No! You don’t have to quit your present job or business. I strongly advice you do not drop out of your job. Remember, you have bills to pay and an Internet business doesn’t happen overnight.
You should start your Internet business on the side, while continuing your offline job. You can quit your offline job or business when you have started seeing regular and substantial profit from your online ventures. Making money online can be very rewarding within a short period, once you have gained a lot of experience and know what to do.
Now, let’s begin with some frequently asked questions that most newbies (new people) have in the getting started process.
“Do I have to have unique skills or a university degree to start my own online business?”
Yes… you will need some knowledge to start, but you certainly don’t need to be a degree holder to know what to do to make money online. You will need to have some understanding of the field you’re going to embark in, but it’s not necessary to have any business or university degrees to realise the goal of starting your own business.
This of course, depends on the type of online business you want to start. Simple research about the area you are interested in will be sufficient enough to get you started. If you’re planning to offer a service like web designing, etc; then you should have some skills in that area before trying to start this kind of business.
Higher educational certificates and past work experience are always helpful in gaining proficiency in a field, but you usually don’t have to have any degrees to have your own online business. Knowledge has more authority online, so reading everything you can get your hands on, that deals with your field is more essential here.
